Brief Description The Irrigation Manager assumes the primary responsibility for exceeding the expectations of the business unit at all levels. These responsibilities start with understanding our company culture and connecting that culture to the required service delivery model. As Irrigation Manager, your responsibilities include managing the daily work activities and the overall quality of all Irrigation Business Unit Functions. This includes but is not limited to scheduling of work crews, client communication, engagement as required with other business units, estimating and pricing of service work, system modifications and upgrades, and understanding and managing the profitability of each client account and the business unit by meeting and exceeding financial benchmarks set forth. A positive attitude, your ability to mentor and motivate subordinates and work in collaborative fashion with others is critical for your success. Key Attributes Required Of TEAM MEMBER Structure – The context and structure we work within always have a set of parameters, limitations and guidelines. The Irrigation Manager is required to know all operating benchmarks of his/her managed properties. This will include client information, contract deliverables, estimated hours for contract deliverables and all other pertinent contract information. Leadership – As the Irrigation Manager you must exude confidence in all your actions. When you speak, you must demand authority and respect. Likewise, you must also give respect. In your position as Irrigation Manager, you will continually build, develop and maintain strong team operational teams. You will continually evaluate your team strengths and limitations; augment as appropriate and train to continually improve skills and ensure proper development of all TEAM members under your control. You will also work collaboratively with other managers to mentor teams in achieving the same goals. Great Planner – Part of being a member of the management TEAM, the Irrigation Manager role involves organizing many parts of a project into one functioning whole. In order to do this, the Irrigation Manager must be able to break down the parts and put them into a plan. However, it is not enough for the Irrigation Manager to make a plan. He or she also must make sure the plan is put into effect, forecast problems, and find workable solutions along the way. In your role as Irrigation Manager, you will be responsible for effectively scheduling work to ensure the delivery of timely services to all those you serve. This includes working with CRM’s & FOM’s to effectively deliver the services to each client. Common Sense – As the Irrigation Manager you will be required to come up with new ideas and problem‑solving initiatives as it relates to your managerial role. Anyone with experience in the field will agree that it is not enough to have knowledge– one must also have the basic sense to put that knowledge into practice. In this role you must be able to think on your feet and make sound business decisions within the required guidelines of responsibility. Effective Communicator – Your job as the Irrigation Manager involves translating directions and instructions to your TEAM and CRM’s & FOM’s. Together, your communication must effectively translate to delivering exceptional landscape management services to your client property or portfolio. Flexibility and versatility are valuable qualities in a manager. As the Irrigation Manager, you must be able to quickly adapt to your environment and the changes that occur. Flexibility and versatility are the pathways to speedy responsiveness and effective customer service delivery. Summary Of Specific Responsibilities Core Operational Responsibilities Manage irrigation team and operations in a way that ensures client expectations are exceeded through careful planning and anticipation of issues. Interpret client requests and provide comprehensive solutions. Interact with clients and team members in appropriate and professional manner in both written and verbal forms. Respond to client requests with sense of urgency. Manage consistent flow of information to internal and external clients. Execute quality training program designed to inspire team members to ongoing education and Effectively schedule and execute work to ensure it is completed within budget at industry leading standards. Oversee the performance of comprehensive monthly inspections including detailed reporting. Monitor and support troubleshooting & repairs. Plan & execute valuable and proactive suggestions for system improvements and best water management practices. Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner. Attend continuing educational opportunities to learn about cutting edge technologies and Financial: Monitors operational performance. Measures budgeted hours vs actual hours Measures budgeted costs vs. actual costs. Ensures financial contract compliance. Personnel Recruits, assists in hiring and development of operational team. Maintains standards of performance and initiates periodic evaluations. Represents company in professional groups/associations. Maintains active contact with people and trends in the industry that affect operations. Required Qualifications Strong communication skills – verbal, written and reading comprehension. Ability to develop strong client and employee relationships. Hands‑on approach to task management, employee and customer interaction. Strong time management and organizational skills. Strong analytical skills, ability to meet critical deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail. Computer skills – proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Email. Responsive with positive attitude and initiative, team oriented, and strong role model. Flexible in working in a change management work environment. Accomplished verbal and written communication skills. Education/Work Experience Applicants must possess a minimum of five years’ experience in a landscape company environment actively involved in landscape management or landscape installation.
