Job Description: Part-Time Nonprofit Bookkeeper (Independent Contractor)Overview Womens March is seeking an experienced Part-Time Nonprofit Bookkeeper (Independent Contractor) to support our finance team with bill entry, revenue/expense classification, reconciliations, and monthly reporting. This flexible remote role averages up to 1520 hours per week, with hours varying depending on workload.ResponsibilitiesMaintain and reconcile financial records using QuickBooks Online (or similar software).Enter, classify, and process vendor bills; schedule and release payments per approval policies.Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate coding to accounts, grants, and programs.Ensure proper revenue classification (donations, grants, sponsorships, program income, etc.), including restricted vs. unrestricted funds.Ensure proper expense classification aligned with the chart of accounts and nonprofit functional categories (program services, management & general, fundraising).Flag potential misclassifications for review before reports are finalized.Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly.Monitor prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.Perform month-end close, including reconciliations and journal entries.Prepare monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports.Assist with annual budget preparation and reforecasting.Record payroll journal entries from Company-provided payroll reports.Maintain organized, accurate digital financial documentation for compliance and reporting.Support internal controls, ensuring approvals are obtained before releasing payments.Recommend improvements to accounting workflows and processes.QualificationsMinimum 3 years of nonprofit bookkeeping experience (required).Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and nonprofit accounting workflows.Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, including restricted/unrestricted funds and functional expense allocations.Demonstrated experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, and monthly reporting.High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.Strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to work independently in a remote environment.Contract DetailsStatus: Independent Contractor (not eligible for employee benefits).Hours: Flexible part-time; averages up to 1520 hours per week (hours may vary).Location: Remote (U.S.-based candidates preferred).Reports To: Finance Team.
