GITCs mission is to elevate student engagement, and expand the role of music in education by making purposeful, inclusive music a joyful and integral part of literacy, academic, and social-emotional learning throughout the school day, and beyond. We accomplish this by training and equipping inspired educators to integrate hands-on music and songs for learning with classroom instruction, activities, transitions, support services, and building classroom communities. Our unique, developmental approach nurtures creative and effective teaching practices through free weekly professional development (PD) courses in ukulele, guitar, and classroom implementation, as well as capacity-building co-teaching artist residencies, intensive workshops, in-service trainings, conference presentations, after school music clubs, and specialized services in adaptive music for inclusion.
About this Position
This Part Time San Diego based position takes place in person but has a flexible schedule and a small hybrid option. You must live in San Diego to apply for this job. Our small office in North Park is private, peaceful, and quiet. Were seeking an individual with outstanding organizational, communication, procedural, and interpersonal skills who enjoys routines and also has the ability to go from project to project with good time management. Applicants must be highly proficient in working in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive Files, Docs, and Sheets, and Adobe. Our organization is PC based. Excellence in English and proficiency in Spanish are a plus. We are a collaborative, caring team, with a supportive work culture that includes educators, sponsors, funders, volunteers, families, and individual donors. Kindness, patience, and a heart for service are essential in this role. Having a minimum of three years of prior experience in administrative work is a must.
Being a musician is not a requirement. Having past experience serving in education is a plus. Our ideal candidate likes learning new things, is naturally curious, practical, has a kind sense of humor, and likes to make a difference for others. This position starts at 20 hours, and has potential to expand to 30 hours once key skills are in place. An AA degree or higher is preferred. Work experience matters.
