  • Litigation: Manage and represent the company in all litigation matters , including lawsuits related to tenant disputes, contract issues, and property liability.
  • Legal Oversight: Plan and coordinate due diligence for all real estate transactions, and provide legal oversight for all real estate financing, acquisitions, and dispositions.
  • Compliance & Strategy: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, including fair housing regulations and property management codes. You will also provide counsel on litigation strategy and proactively develop legal solutions to achieve our business objectives.
  • Training & Leadership: Serve as the primary legal liaison for our team, providing training on legal best practices and working cross-functionally to foster professional relationships.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required.
  • Experience: You must have an active license to practice law in the state of Ohio. We are looking for a mid-level associate from a top-tier or real estate-focused law firm, or an in-house counsel from a leading financial institution. Proven strength in litigation and evictions is essential.
  • Specialized Knowledge: A deep understanding of residential real estate, landlord-tenant law, litigation, and real estate financing is essential. Familiarity with loan documents and intercreditor, co-lender, and participation agreements is a significant plus.
  • Professional Skills: The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, results-oriented attorney with a solution-driven, positive, and team-oriented mentality. You must possess excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and manage a heavy caseload with a high level of professionalism.
