Job Description

The Referral Coordinator is responsible for processing, follow-up, and communication to patients for referrals and/or procedure orders generated by providers. This role initiates authorizations for patient services, maintains knowledge of insurance coverages, documents authorizations, and communicates authorization statuses to the practice staff.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming and outgoing referrals and orders in a timely manner.
• Document all interactions with patients and insurance companies appropriately.
• Obtain prior authorizations for appointments and procedures.
• Update patient demographics in the management system.
• Handle incoming calls professionally and courteously.
• Operate office equipment effectively.
• Collaborate with medical staff, insurance companies, patients, and families.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Minimum Work Experience

• 1-3 years healthcare or medical office experience preferred.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational skills and goal-oriented.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Proficiency with computers and software applications.
• Professional and calm handling of requests and complaints.
