Position Summary:
The Legal Assistant will provide critical administrative and client support in Spanish and English, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of our busy criminal law practice. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in helping individuals navigate the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary point of contact for Spanish-speaking clients

• Translate legal documents and correspondence (Spanish ↔ English)

• Schedule client meetings, court dates, and attorney appointments

• Maintain organized case files and update client records

• Assist in drafting routine legal documents, letters, and motions

• Communicate professionally with courts, prosecutors, and other agencies

• Provide trial and hearing support, including preparation of exhibits and materials

• Perform other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:

• Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken)

• Prior experience in a legal setting (criminal law experience preferred)

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with indigent or vulnerable populations

• Familiarity with criminal procedure and court filings
