Two paradoxical images are combined: French 19th century Neoclassical painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres’ 1908 oil portrait of painter François Marius Granet and a 1930’s snapshot of an Istanbul lady. The resemblance is striking and cuts through historical and gender divides.
