The Opportunity

Provides medical oversight to Medical Staff Associates, including training of other physicians and Medical Staff Associates. Usually serves as the primary center physician registered as the Laboratory Director with CLIA.

You will report directly to the Center Manager, with dotted line reporting to the Division Medical Director.

The Role

  1. Serves as the primary physician for reporting to the Food and Drug Administration, providing medical oversight in compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations, including Title 21 of the CFR, and monitors medical compliance of the center.
  2. Serves as or delegates duties of laboratory director, technical consultant, or clinical consultant as prescribed by CLIA regulations. May oversee total protein testing.
  3. Reviews, understands, and complies with CSL Plasma Services policies and procedures. Maintains high medical standards and ensures cGMPs adherence. Is physically present in the center as scheduled.
  4. Provides medical oversight to Medical Staff Associates, including training, and observes MSAs periodically. Directs the Center Medical Staff and trains staff on related procedures.
  5. Meets with Medical Staff Associates monthly to discuss medically related topics, documents meetings, and may serve on the Quality Assurance Team. Acts as liaison between Corporate/Divisional Medical Director and the Center Medical Staff.
  6. Responds to inquiries regarding donor suitability, provides instructions, and conducts interviews to obtain necessary information. Approves resumes for donors with positive STS/negative FTA.
  7. Maintains confidentiality of employee, donor, and center records. Oversees medical supplies and emergency equipment.
  8. Reviews and signs medical incident reports and abnormal test results. Approves resumption of donations post-incident or abnormal result.
  9. Ensures health and safety of donors, monitors responses to immunizations, and oversees hyper-immune programs if applicable.
  10. Performs evaluations for red cell recipients, reviews and approves immunizations, and is present during procedures if applicable.
  11. Determines donor suitability following adverse reactions, maintains knowledge of infectious disease markers.
  12. May perform functions such as notifying donors of test results, medical evaluations, and explaining consent materials.
  13. Supports Corporate Medical Operations as requested.

Your Skills And Experience

Education

  • MD or DO from an accredited school.
  • Active medical license in the state of the center.
  • Meets state-specific educational requirements if applicable.

Experience

  • One year of residency training as an MD or OD.
  • Meets state-specific experience requirements if applicable.

Additional Comments

Familiarity with CFR and Plasma Operating Procedures.
