Roller Skating

160 width x 51 height

In the 1950s and 60s on the east coast in the USA roller skating rinks with their hard wood floors became very popular.  To the rhythm of the latest music, the skaters swayed almost dancing, sometimes forward and other times backward, around the rink with a partner or alone.  This work is an abstraction, a memory, and the synthesis of music and movement from the artist’s youth.
