What Was and What Was Not
readymade cloth, digital prints on cloth, needlework

When Atakan found a needlework cloth at a flea market in Fredericksburg Virginia. the location of University of Mary Washington where she studied undergraduate art, the artist began to free associate.  For her the shapes embroidered on linen became pendalums of modernistic clocks that swung back and forth in her imagination reminding her of what was and what was not.
