While researching the concept of time, Atakan visited several flea markets both inside and outside of Turkey and collected 12 twentieth century alarm clocks as well as two pocket watches.  She realized that these clocks both tell time and as objects show time.   A rotating slanted structure as a support for her collection  illustrates the instability of time measurements.  For example, with modernization, industrialization, centralized bureaucracy and the coming of railroads, the time system used by the Ottomans, was replaced by the western system of measuring time.
